ABOUT:
The Altar Servers play an important role in assisting Priests at all Masses so that the congregation can be more attentive to the Word of God and make their time of worship more meaningful and deeply felt.
Other than serving at Masses, the Altar Servers have monthly meetings, organize trainings and involve in all church activities to enrich the liturgical knowledge of its members and to build bonding and unity among fellow Servers.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Any boy or girl who has received First Communion (Grade 3 /4) is welcome to join the Altar Servers Ministry. An announcement is made in the Church during all obligatory masses before the enrollment of the new batch, which usually takes place in the month of September. Intensive training sessions are held after enrollment from September to December.
THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING AN ALTAR SERVER:
Becoming an Altar Server is an important way to participate in parish liturgies, and to find out more about our faith. Serving is an important avenue for our young to become involved in the spiritual life of the Church. Altar Servers add to the solemnity of the Mass. This ministry provides an opportunity for young parishioners to have a visible role in the parish community.
ALTAR SERVER’S PRAYER
Before Mass:
Come, Let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before God, our maker. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Let us Pray:
God, Our Father, You have given us the privilege of serving at your altar. Help us to be attentive and reverent in your house; may we always think of what we are doing and saying; may we listen to your word; and so may we give glory to you and be an example to others. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
After Mass:
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, His love endures. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Let us Pray:
We thank you Lord for giving us the privilege of serving you and your people. Be with us now as we return to our homes. May what we have learned from you this day make us loving and kind at home, at school and at play; and may we do only the things that please you. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
